Today, what are your plans? Have a busy schedule? I remember once that Martin Luther said, "I have so much to do that I shall have to spend the first three hours in prayer." That's counterintuitive, isn't it? You’d think that we should spend less time praying in order to get the practical things done: doing laundry, going to the grocery store or mowing the lawn. Today, I'd like to offer you three more things to do, all contained in today's brief passage. Let’s listen to it:

Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. (Psalm 96:2)

This passage tells us three things that God wants all of us to do. First, sing to the Lord. When you and I sing to the Lord, we acknowledge His goodness, His faithfulness, His glorious grace, and His sovereign greatness. The second thing this passage tells us to do is to bless his Name. To bless God, as used in the Psalms, is the Hebrew word, barak. It means adoration and praise and also implies kneeling. We acknowledge His lordship over us. Finally the psalmist tells us to tell of his salvation from day to day. Do you ever tell anybody about the wonderful salvation you have found in Christ? As my pastor Brad Hales says, "He's delivered us from the three D's: death, darkness and the devil. God not only delivers us, He wants to deliver others, too.

Today, sing praises to God; bless His name; and don't forget to tell somebody about Jesus!
