Theology of the Reformation

From April 20–25, Mr. Shelby F. Myers delivered lectures concerning the theology of the Reformation for TMI in partnership with Seminario Reformado Latinoamericano in Masaya, Nicaragua. Eight SRL students participated in the course for credit, but another 10 individuals from a nearby Reformed Baptist church also participated in the lectures for the purpose of edification.

The lectures reflected upon the doctrinal concepts of the Reformation throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with an emphasis upon confessional documents and exegetical aspects of Reformed theology. Topics included: worship as the heart of Reformed theology, the authority of Scripture, the place of tradition in Reformed theological method, the Canons of Dort (with a special focus upon historic Reformed views of election and atonement), the ordo salutis, the Reformed view of sanctification and good works, and the practices of confessionalism.
