One of the problems we experience today that previous generations didn't have to deal with is the 24/7 news cycle. Not only do we get news every minute, we get it from hundreds sources. And if that isn’t bad enough, these sources often contradict each other! And worse, nearly all news sources deliver more than just the news; they also deliver their own point of view—their "spin"—on how they want us to think about the news. I was reading in the Psalms recently and one line in particular stood out. I think that line will stand out for you, too, so let’s listen to it:

You, Lord, have saved my life from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. Now I will walk at your side in this land of the living. I was faithful to you when I was suffering, though in my confusion I said, “I can't trust anyone!” What must I give you, Lord, for being so good to me? (Psa. 116:8-12)

David is trying to be a faithful follower of God. In his confusion and suffering he cries out, “I can't trust anyone!” Have you ever felt that way? I sure have. Sometimes I read news posted online and think, "Really? I wonder if that's right?" Then I’ll look it up only to find that it's completely untrue. Meanwhile, millions of people who have believed it was true, have passed it on for others to read. The truth is that you and I can trust Someone. We can trust God. Even when all else seems lost, we can trust God to be with us, in good times and bad. We can trust Him to do what He says, to forgive our sins, to love us in this life and on into eternity.
