I have been a Christian for more than fifty years and what I have discovered is that the longer I know God, there’s even more I need to learn! Has that been your experience, too? From our perspective, His ways can seem unsearchable—beyond our understanding! We can't categorize Him or fit Him into our religious box. Sometimes it can be hard to grasp what He is doing in our lives. But at some point—sometimes at many points—we have to learn to trust Him. I like today's passage from 1 Corinthians 13 in two of the newer translations, so let's listen to them:

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. (1 Cor. 13:12 NLT)

We don’t know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands us. (CEV)

Many years ago, my wife Pam and I took a trip to Arizona and visited the Grand Canyon.  If you have ever been there, you'll know that the Grand Canyon is vast, and difficult to describe. I could never explain what it looks like to see it in person. Even though I took lots of pictures, but photos don’t fully show you the scope of how the Grand Canyon truly looks. In today's first passage, the apostle Paul writes, "Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity." The next passage in the CEV says, "We don’t know everything, but then we will." Nobody can fully tell or show God's plan for you or me. Someday, in God's sovereign timing, we will understand why God did things the way He did them. We'll understand the trials we went through, all of our failures and successes. For now though, you and I must trust Him.

Do you have trouble trusting God? Sometimes I do. But who are we going to trust? Only God always knows the right thing to do. He, unlike you and me, is always trustworthy. We can trust Him with everything in our lives...and that is very Good News!
