Marriage Counseling

During my recent teaching engagement with Teaching Missions International, I presented a class on biblical counseling with an emphasis on marriage, at the Reformed Seminary, Elias Ricks in Sophia, Bulgaria. I had the privilege of guiding students through two Saturday classes focused on deepening both theological understanding and practical ministry skills. The class, held on May 10 and 17, 2025, brought together 15 participants from diverse backgrounds and different churches, each eager to grow in knowledge, faith, and ministry.

Throughout the course, we explored foundational doctrines, mankind as image bearers and the gospel roots in marriage. We engaged in lively discussions regarding the application of scripture to marriage, husband and wife roles, parenting, communication, and conflict resolution. The classes were interactive and designed to enhance pastoral care and discipleship. The students’ thoughtful questions and willingness to engage with challenging material created a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

Beyond the classroom, I was offered unique opportunities to minister in other parts of Bulgaria. Rev. Emanuel Tinev and his wife Svetlana took my wife, Talena and I to Panagyurshte where I delivered a Lord’s Day sermon from the book of Philemon at the local church. The sermon presented Paul’s gospel appeal for reconciling redemptive relationships. We had lunch with key members of the congregation, and their warmth and curiosity fostered an uplifting exchange as the Tinev’s recounted the planting of the church, and the members shared their testimonies of faith in Christ. We also engaged in practical ways for the church to reach out to the community
