James

The week-long course dedicated to the study of the Epistle of James took place from February 16 to 20, 2026, at the Reform Theological Academy of Jacmel, in Cyvadier. This course, based on Michael Traynor’s textbook, aimed to guide students toward an accurate, Christ-centered biblical interpretation of the book of James. It also aimed to develop personal Bible study techniques, foster community dialogue, and prepare students to communicate the message of James through teaching and preaching. The course introduction highlighted the central theme of the book: that true faith is demonstrated through concrete works, because “faith without works is dead.”

During the week, students studied the various lessons in the textbook, including essential themes such as trials, obedience to the Word, the sin of partiality, and living faith. The manual emphasizes that authentic faith must be tested in daily life and manifested in a transformed life marked by obedience, love, and compassion.

Three students, Loquence Jean Wilson, Bob Nicolas Charles, and Marckendy Mahotiere, presented lessons in a teaching format, demonstrating their ability to interpret and communicate the biblical message. These presentations contributed to achieving the course objectives, including training students to teach and preach God’s Word effectively.

Overall, the students expressed great appreciation for the course, recognizing its importance for their spiritual growth and preparation for ministry. They understood that Christian faith is not limited to verbal confession but must be translated into practical living of righteousness, love, and holiness. The manual clearly teaches that true faith is manifested in actions, in the way we speak, live, and serve others.
